Laura Imbruglia

Lecturer

Songwriter Laura Imbruglia has been releasing records since the early noughties. A restless musician with broad music taste, she has covered a range of genres from folk to throat-tearing punk, dark country, psychedelic rock and everything in between. She’s released four albums, played almost every corner of Australia and several pockets of Europe.

Not one to rest on her laurels, Laura has also been known to flex additional creative muscles including comedy writing, TV production (see Laura’s beloved arts web series “Amateur Hour”), and radio (3RRR - “Word Nerds”, dedicated to Laura’s love of lyrics).

"Amateur Hour” productions have been seen on abc iview, screened at St Kilda Film Festival, included in the documentaries "Her Sound, Her Story” (2017), “Palazzo di Cozzo” (2021) and used in marketing for Music Victoria (their "Live & Breathe Music” campaign video was their/her most popular video ever, attracting over 80,000 views).

Laura’s fourth album “Scared Of You” (produced by Nick Huggins) was released 29 March 2019. Produced by long-time collaborator Nick Huggins,
the album showcases the refined songwriting and chameleon-like musicianship of an artist at the peak of a massive career.

Outside of her creative pursuits, she’s built a professional career in programming, program management, and event production, with roles at Music Victoria, Mona Foma and Bus Stop Films.
