A global opportunity for emerging creatives

We’re proud to share that Collarts Music Production students Dakota Fick and Raph Musk have been selected to attend International Songwriting Week this May at the prestigious Popakademie Baden-Württemberg in Mannheim, Germany.

Chosen for their standout performance and production skills, Dakota and Raph will join a global cohort of emerging creatives to collaborate with German students and international industry coaches. Working on Eurovision-focused briefs, the experience promises not only creative growth but also a deep dive into cross-cultural collaboration and global music practices.

It’s an exciting opportunity to step into an international songwriting environment - one that blends innovation, collaboration and cultural exchange - and we can’t wait to see where it takes them.

Meet the students

From the Gold Coast to Mannheim, and from the studio to the global stage, Dakota and Raph are set to represent Collarts in an environment built for creative exchange and innovation. Their selection highlights not only their individual talent, but also the strength of Collarts’ music production community.

D: "I'm from the Gold Coast, and I moved to Melbourne to study music production. I love programming drums and playing guitar, and I would say my biggest musical influences at the moment are Erika De Casier and Dev Hynes."

R: "I am currently in stage four of my music production degree. At the moment I’ve been enjoying experimenting with creative vocal production and sampling and would love to get into film scoring as a career. I am so excited to go to Popakademie and learn so many new things."

How do you feel about receiving the Popakademie scholarship?

D: I feel so excited! I'm so grateful for this opportunity, still pinching myself to be honest
R: I am so excited to have been accepted! When I applied, I didn’t think much of it. I was so shocked when I heard my name!

What are you most excited about?

D: I'm most excited to make music and meet the mentors; hopefully, I can pick up some German slang. Also excited to do some exploring and eat yummy food :)
R: I am most excited to meet new people! I am so excited to collaborate and learn new things from new people.
